Envision Sends Clinicians to Texas as Part of National COVID-19 Response

Envision Healthcare Corporation of Nashville, Tennessee, owner of Amsurg, sent 80 clinicians to El Paso and Lubbock, Texas, to provide additional clinical support and expertise as these communities and the state face a surge in COVID-19 patients, according to a November 17 press release. The multi-specialty team of emergency physicians, anesthesiologists, advanced practice providers and certified registered nurse anesthetists will care for patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The clinicians volunteered to go to Texas in response to the anticipated third wave of COVID-19 cases that have exceeded 1 million in Texas, according to the release. The group joins the company’s approximately 4,000 local physicians and practice providers who are working with patients in communities across the state, and will work with caregivers and healthcare facilities in the El Paso and Lubbock communities.

“From the start of this unprecedented public health crisis, Envision has rapidly deployed clinicians to treat patients in COVID-19 hot spots throughout the country," said Mansoor Khan, MD, who leads Envision’s ENVOY travel team, in the release. "We will be there for patients for as long as it takes, providing quality care guided by our clinical expertise and best practices. We all must work together to care for patients and protect our communities from the devastating impacts of this pandemic.”

Since the beginning of the pandemic, hundreds of the company's clinicians have volunteered to travel to communities hit hardest by the pandemic, including New York, New Jersey, Florida, Arizona and Texas, according to the release.
