That mentality, says Gina Hartman, RN, CASC, the ASC’s director of perioperative services, helps keep staff focused on effectively cleaning any surface that might come into contact with patients. “By ensuring environmental hygiene has been completed, our perioperative staff reduce the risk not only for postoperative infections but also contagious respiratory diseases,” she says.
