The US is experiencing a nursing shortage, the reason for which is manifold. A significant segment of the nursing work force is nearing retirement age, and as the Baby Boomers age, more nurses will be needed to take care of the aging population. The US Census Bureau projects the number of US residents age 65 and over to be 82 million by 2030. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic has worsened the shortage. Many nurses have quit their job because of the stress and anguish that the pandemic has brought on.
