Analyzing CMS’ 2024 Proposed Payment Rule

ASCA weighs in on provisions of interest to ASCs

Every summer, typically in early to mid-July, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) releases its proposed payment rule for ASCs and hospital outpatient departments (HOPD) for the coming year. This rule contains proposed updates to Medicare’s reimbursement rates, proposed changes to the list of procedures ASCs will be able to provide to Medicare beneficiaries and proposed changes to the ASC Quality Reporting (ASCQR) Program. CMS then allows 60 days for interested parties, such as ASCA, to submit feedback to the proposed rule that the agency can consider before releasing the final rule in early November.
