Brunswick Surgery Center Achieves Certificates of Excellence from DNV Healthcare

Brunswick Surgery Center (BSC) of Leland, North Carolina, received four certificates of excellence from the accreditation organization DNV Healthcare for the subspecialties that DNV surveys: advanced foot and ankle surgery, advanced hip and knee replacement, advanced shoulder surgery and advanced spine surgery, according to a release.

Because the ASC achieved advanced certification in at least three orthopedic programs, it also obtained a DNV Orthopedic Center of Excellence designation, recognizing BSC as “a demonstrated leader in the safe delivery of orthopedic surgeries.”

“Achieving excellence in every subspecialty of outpatient orthopedics speaks volumes about the skillful staff and our surgeons’ expertise," said Scott Hannum, MD, board-certified orthopedic surgeon and medical director of BSC, in the release. "As we aim to become a top-tier outpatient orthopedic surgery center in our region, I’m confident we’re making significant strides toward this goal."

The DNV Orthopedic Center of Excellence designation is based on guidelines, recommendations and evidence-based, professionally recognized standards of practice, and acknowledged by leading professional organizations and agencies in the discipline, according to the release. These organizations include the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the ERAS Society, the American Society of Anesthesiologists and relevant requirements of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) Conditions for Coverage and Participation for hospitals. The designation is valid for a three-year term.

“To be recognized nationally is an honor,” said Eric Lescault, DO, board-certified orthopedic surgeon at BSC, in the release. “I believe that the DNV certification reflects our efforts to support the vision and mindset of Brunswick Surgery Center. That has always been to offer the most technologically advanced, affordable orthopedic care to our region.”

Also recognized for excellence on a regional level by those who matter most, BSC continues to receive five-star reviews, demonstrating exceptional patient satisfaction, according to the release.
