USPI Names New CEO

United Surgical Partners International (USPI) of Dallas, Texas, appointed Brett Brodnax, president and chief development officer, as chief executive officer (CEO), according to a November 6 press release.

A 19-year veteran of USPI, Brodnax succeeds Bill Wilcox, who will continue in his role as chairman of USPI and as a vice chairman of Tenet Healthcare, USPI's parent company. Brodnax will report to Ron Rittenmeyer, executive chairman and CEO of Tenet Healthcare.

Brodnax joined USPI in 1999 from Baylor Health Care System, after helping to establish a partnership among Baylor, USPI and local physicians. This three-way joint venture model has grown exponentially under him, according to the release. During his tenure at USPI, Brodnax has held a number of leadership positions, including serving as a senior vice president, an executive vice president and, most recently, as chief development officer and president.

“Brett’s appointment is well-deserved recognition of the great contributions and leadership he has provided to USPI during his nearly 20-year tenure," Wilcox said in the release. "Among his many accomplishments, Brett helped to pioneer USPI’s partnership strategy, which has significantly contributed to the growth of the company and earned him deep respect among prominent health systems and physicians across the country. He has also worked to instill a culture of top-notch quality and service, which has afforded us much success as an organization.”

Brodnax said in the release, "I am committed to continuing to build on Bill’s legacy, ensuring we stay true to our mission of treating each and every patient and their family members as if they were our own."

Brodnax received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial engineering from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. He also has a Master of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson,Texas.
