AAAHC Receives Accreditation from International Society for Quality in Health Care

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) of Skokie, Illinois, received a four-year accreditation of its healthcare standards from the International Society for Quality in Health Care’s (ISQua) External Evaluation Association (IEEA) International Accreditation Programme (IAP), according to an October 21 press release.

"This award further demonstrates our commitment to establishing best practices in ambulatory healthcare worldwide,” said Noel M. Adachi, president and chief executive officer of AAAHC, in the release. “ISQua accreditation complements our six-year CMS deemed status recognition and provides AAAHC with an opportunity to grow from the largest accrediting body for US ambulatory healthcare into an international organization providing guidance and best practice for patient-centric care across the globe.”

The IEEA IAP accreditation encourages growth and development through an ongoing review process that includes a comprehensive self-assessment against ISQua principles, intense peer review evaluation of standards and supporting evidence by ISQua surveyors, and an in-depth validation review by the IEEA Accreditation Council, according to the release

“By holding our organization to the same expectations as those we accredit, we guarantee the ongoing development of peer-reviewed, evidence-based standards and educational resources for healthcare organizations worldwide,” said Ira Cheifetz, AAAHC board chair, in the release.

Launched in 1999, the IEEA IAP is a an assessment process that reviews existing accreditation standards and processes to confirm they meet international industry requirements for patient safety and ongoing quality improvement. Operating in more than 60 countries, the IEEA IAP provides third-party external evaluation services to health and social care external evaluation organizations and standards developing bodies around the globe.
