NOVEMBER 18, 2025
Justin Oppenheimer will join Surgery Partners as chief operating officer (COO) and national group president, effective January 1, 2026, according to Carisa Bailey, director of marketing at Surgery Partners. In this role, Oppenheimer will oversee the company’s short-stay surgical facilities as well as all affiliated ambulatory and physician facilities. He will lead operational excellence across all business units, drive key strategic initiatives and play a central role in advancing the company’s mission. He will report to Eric Evans, chief executive officer.
“Justin brings a proven track record of operational leadership and a deep understanding of healthcare services,” Bailey said in an email. “As we continue to grow and strengthen our organization, his experience and vision will be instrumental in advancing our mission and delivering exceptional results.”
Oppenheimer will join Surgery Partners from the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), where he spent the past decade in a variety of leadership roles, including chief strategy officer and COO. During his tenure, he helped transform HSS’s operating system and improve financial performance through actionable, growth-centric strategies. “With more than 15 years of experience in healthcare operations, joint ventures and physician partnerships—particularly in musculoskeletal services—Justin brings deep expertise that aligns with our largest service line and strategic priorities,” Bailey said in the email.
“I’m honored to join Surgery Partners at such an exciting time,” Oppenheimer said in the email. “The organization’s mission to enhance patient quality of life through partnership aligns perfectly with my passion for clinical and operational excellence, physician collaboration, and team leadership. I look forward to building on the company’s strong foundation and accelerating our path forward.”
Bailey said in the email: “We look forward to the leadership, perspective and energy he will bring as we continue to scale, innovate and deliver exceptional care across our business.”
